I'm suggesting they profile their stop and searches to people who are acting suspiciously.
    That's part of it yes.

Places who've done things like this in the UK have tended to find they are more effective than they were before
Studies in NYC show the opposite, that with profiling has seen a dramatic drop in the number of crimes committed when they adjusted their ratios to the proportion of crimes committed. When the cost of criminal activity went up with effective profiling, the crime went down.

    have better community relations
Right, I'm sure the segments of the community committing crimes are happier when they aren't profiled and caught. Yeah, I can see it. The primary goal of the police is public safety, not community relations. They would have better community relations doing nothing at all than doing their jobs.

    1. It's racist
It's not racist to profile based on actual criminal activity and not percentage of the population. Committing searches based on percentage of the total population is retarded. Are you really going to strip search a nun?

    2. It's not effective
How is strip searching a nun making you more effective at catching criminals? It's a waste of time.

    3. It hurts community relations in the places you need most help 'cause there's most crime
Ie, criminals are unhappy because they get caught. Yeah, duh. Good, not dumb, remember? I'm sure they prefer Stupid Good. You really think criminals don't profile their victims, MikeH?

    4. Young black males also the most likely to be victims of crime.
Yes, from other black people. Young black males derive the greatest benefit from profiling as they are the most frequent victims. Catching criminals in this community will benefit them more than anyone else.

    5. Stopping and searching people not doing anything suspicious is a waste of time that could be spent doing actual police work.
Strip searching nuns so you can say, "you don't profile" is a waste of time.

Yes, it's a fact that men are more likely to commit crimes than women. Therefore it makes sense to scrutinize men more often. And yes, I've been profiled and stopped before for pulling up several flags as a young man. You can make profiling work for you by understanding how it works and what they look for and NOT GIVING THEM EASY INDICATORS. duh.
You went there huh? Problem is when people in positions of power don't care about justice. They are activists, basically taking the law into their own hands. They don't believe in a just system so they make themselves a tyrant. Look in the mirror.

I'm a tyrant for stating the fact that men commit more crimes than women, therefore police officers should profile men more often than woman to uncover criminal activity?

Simple logic, Kidicious. I'm not sure why you have me confused with a liberaltarian. I'm not.

Nice strawman. It's clear you have no idea what you're even discussing. MikeH obviously doesn't want to strip search nuns since unless they are behaving suspiciously.

Nonsense. Is there a community of people who behave suspiciously? MikeH is very clear that he believes any system that is more likely to profile a black individual than a white individual is by definition racist. This is a red herring. MikeH even goes so far to say that one can improve community relations (another code word), by choosing not to do your job as a cop.

No, MikeH is very clear that deciding to profile someone because he's black is racist. He never ruled out the possibility that a larger percentage of blacks are suspicious even when you ignore race.

The goal is not justice. The goal is to protect women. In the same sense the goal of profiling blacks is to protect white people. You aren't fooling anyone. This isn't justice. It's bigotry and it's not the intent of the founders of the system.

Your assumption that black people are shifty because they are black is somehow less racist?

Why am I surprised that the misogyny express is poking his head out here?
                    Called it.

In the same sense the goal of profiling blacks is to protect white people.
Given that black people are the most common victims of black crime, this is false. Profiling black people is more likely to catch someone who will hurt them rather than your average white person. This is a statistical fact.

You aren't fooling anyone. This isn't justice. It's bigotry and it's not the intent of the founders of the system.
Why do you have a problem with women being protected?

You mean the assumption I never made and which is a figment of your imagination? Yeah, if someone thought that it would be racist.

I thought it was HIS position that black people should be regarded as more suspicious because they're black?
