I'm also aware that some non-Jews found aspects of Judaism attractive, although they did not actually convert fully. I'm also aware that there is an unfortunate and persistent strain of anti-semitism in Christianity (beginning I suppose with phrases in the Gospel of John) that rears its ugly head now and again.
So I was stressing the Jewish identity of Yeshua, the charismatic Jewish rabbi and prophet, one of a long line or heritage of such teachers and foretellers, encouraging his fellow Jews to purify themselves with ritual immersion, respect for the spirit of the Law rather than rote observance of the dead letter of the law- people like Nehemiah and John The Baptist.
