The left wing excess thing is bit of a a myth though. In 1997 the total debt was 42% of GDP, wasn't seen as a big deal, in 2008 it was 35% but somehow it was now panic stations?
And the evidence seems to be that the cuts have slowed growth, I think it's still a better idea to shrink the debt percentage by growing the economy not by trying to repay and shrinking it.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
