Scratch that, they likely did as they were looking at the long ball picture. Every 30 or so years you need an abyssmal failure like Carter or Obama to reinforce how pitiful the ideological underpinnings are.

Do you even read what you link?

"I’m encouraged that the President took action to stop the cancellation of insurance policies that people were promised they could retain," Landrieu said in a statement. "I was particularly happy to see the notification provision included, which is an important part of my bill. I will be working today and throughout the weeks ahead to support legislation to keep the promise."
The notification provision is not in the Upton bill and it is one of the reasons Obama said he would veto the bill. The Landrieu Bill is the same as Obama's recommendations with one exception - she'd let the currently plans be grandfathered for more than one year; however, unlike Upton, she wouldn't allow them be sold to new customers (which is quite key here, esp with the ACA requirements). I'm thinking its far more disingenuous to state Landrieu's Bill is basically the same as Upton's - when you put forth Upton's as a "bipartisan bill" and then tried to defend that laughable statement by then saying Upton is going to back Landrieu's Bill (which of course is a completely different bill from Upton's - seriously, Ogie).

And based on your logic, why exactly would House Dems be offering a bill rather than rely on executive decree?

Besides, Obama is right to reject Upton's Bill for one major reason:

House Republicans have rallied behind the cause of people getting insurance cancellation notices—and, on Friday, they will vote on a measure that will purportedly allow these people to keep their current policies. The bill might not work as intended, but it might well have another set of consequences. It would allow insurer companies to keep discriminating against the sick, while selling people po...

Note that the Upton bill doesn’t seek simply to leave existing policies in place for people who have them. It would also allow insurers to sell the policies to new customers. That goes way beyond grandfathering, because the cheaper, skimpier plans would siphon off the healthiest enrollees—and do so in perpetuity. This (probably) makes it worse than the (still objectionable) proposal Democrat Mary Landrieu has proposed in the Senate. If the Upton bill passed, Obamacare’s reforms of the market might become effectively meaningless. In short, the Upton bill is a not-thinly-disguised effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

              • As of this writing Upton Bill passed, 39 dems voted for the Upton Bill. Yes bipartisan.

Fictional Democratic House leadership bill non existant.

Hers extended the pledge to keep your plans indiefinteily while his was less extensive and extended only through 2014.

Upton supports the Landrieu Bill, which is different in certain respects to the Upton Bill.

                  And then:

Fred Upton has said he supports Mary Landrieu’s bill. Barack Obama feels the same way.
(That last sentence linking to: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/...96343789547558)

So, Obama said he would veto the Upton Bill, and is for (or hasn't said anything against) the Landrieu Bill. Upton said he would support the Landrieu Bill. 39 Dems voted for Upton's Bill, but no leadership, AFAIK.

It is the LANDRIEU BILL which is the bi-partisan one, as leadership on both sides have come out for it. And Obama has basically picked the bill he'd support and said he'd veto the other. Where is the refusal to negotiate here?

                    • LANDRIEU BILL which is the bi-partisan one
The Upton bill which just passed the house is bipartisan. 39 Dims and all the Republicans. Unlike Obamacare which had ZERO republicans.

Obama better start warming up that Veto pen if he wants to save O-Care.

                          False.

House Democrats on Friday used a procedural maneuver to offer a plan of their own called “Landrieu lite,” intended to build upon the president’s fix and offer their members additional political cover. The Democratic proposal, which was rejected by Republicans, would have allowed people who like their current plans to retain them for an additional year. But, unlike with Mr. Upton’s bill, insurers would not be allowed to sell plans that previously faced cancellation to new customers.
Defying a veto threat, 39 Democrats joined Republicans in approving the measure, which goes further than the fix that President Obama had previously announced.
