Your real problem is this :

The cost of a kidney transplant is about the same as that of the least expensive Rolls-Royce, starting at a bit over $250,000.
That is insanely expensive if it's true. In 2002 it only costed 351.274 DKK to get a such here ( ~$60.000). It's probably cheaper now. Source, page 18.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Your religious reservations towards doctor assisted suicide is the primary motive and I dont think most of anyone respects the blood drinking kiddy diddlers known as the Catholic Church.

There is an argument against it, along the lines that people might be pressured into killing themselves that way by family members tired of footing the bill, or of the stress and strain of uncertainty, etc. But yes, BK is primarily coming up with justifications for Catholic doctrine here AFAICT.

OTOH, the RCC is vehemently opposed to the DP and I think BK supports that, so who knows?

So what you are saying is your will should be void since you are dead?
How comfortable would you be with the executor of a will executing his client?

verifiable system to ensure that people have given consent prior to euthanasia
It's been abused before by the state WRT disabled people. Yeah, clearly I'm going to put my trust in state run euthanasia to protect my right not to be killed by some doctor in the event I'm incapacitated.

I believed this before I was Catholic. Yes, you're correct, the RCC church is opposed to it and for good reason. It's contrary to natural law and the concept of a right to life. Contrary to primum non nocere, etc.

OTOH, the RCC is vehemently opposed to the DP and I think BK supports that, so who knows?

Yeah, forgive me for not trusting the state after decisions like this one:

Imagine a 8-1 decision where the best legal minds of the age in America supported the concept of 'sterlizing the unfit'.

What, the argument that killing another person for the crime of murder is merciful? That it's a proportionate response and not a deterrent? Absolutely.

Generally ... I would be uncomfortable with it because a living person generally shouldn't have their will in play.

However, in cases where the person is incapacitated and has left a will (or other valid legal document) expressing their wish to be killed in such an event, I'd be quite ok with that. I find trying to force people to live in situations they find worse than death rather abhorent...

Now you know how I felt about Terri Schiavo. Her executor was her husband.

What if she didn't? What if she left nothing at all written down expressing her desire to die if incapacitated, and the only one saying that she wanted this is her executor?

I find asking someone to kill you because you no longer want to live is abhorrent.

Funny how Aeson dislikes forcing others to do something against their will, while you just want to force others to submit to yours.

So other people should leave according to how you feel they should. Gotcha.
