If there were government-run bakeries they couldn't be run according to the whims of a religious group.

The topic is bigotry, last I checked. This is actual bigotry towards Christians.

No, it's not. The same motivation that is having folks charge Christian bakers with discrimination is the exact same argument that you are making here. One leads to the other. We should be protecting conscience rights here, first and foremost.

The bigotry of expecting bakeries to sell cakes to customers? Is this like the bigotry of expecting restaurants to let black people in?

So you're saying then that the power of the state should be used to force Christian bakers to provide cakes for gay weddings.

Thank you. So my case IS relevant to this one after all.

In a secular society "forcing" a religious group NOT to be bigotted toward a societal group is okay. Not to mention: "Judge not, lest ye be judged". "Love your neighbor as yourself" "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

Yeah...they should sell them the cake.

Ben...you cannot apply religious principles to secular equality. (well..YOU can, but you are in the wrong)

Christianity isn't inherently bigoted. Some people who happen to be Christian also happen to be bigots. Their morally repugnant views don't represent Christianity as a whole. In addition, they can all go **** themselves. They give the rest of us a bad name.

Why we're discussing this case in this thread I have no idea, but if you people insist on it I do have one question: Are they the only bakery in the area? Why not just go to another one? Do you really want to force someone to serve your wedding who was morally opposed to it?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

It's like the pharmacist who doesn't want to fill birth control prescriptions. Get another ****ing job if you hate it so much. We live in a society. If a person can't deal with the modern social norms, then they should GTFO.

I'm always amused when I see people complaining about being persecuted but then defend their right to do it to others.
