With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003
Awesome. So tell me the names of Tea Party-backed Republican office holders who have been elected, who fully support equal marriage rights, if the Tea Party is not socially conservative or right-wing.
Can you tell me the names of Democratic office holders who have been elected who are laissez-faire, or closer to it than the mainstream, on economics issues?

Someone here made the argument that the Tea Party is not a socially conservative organization and that it's only focused on economic or government budget issues.
So I'm asking a fair question.
I'm not sure I understand the point of your question though, as I have not advanced any argument of a liberal organization not being socially liberal.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
Cuccinelli's not just Attorney General, he's likely to be the next Governor of Virginia. Of course our current Governor is famous for having written a graduate thesis on keeping women barefoot and pregnant.

I called you on using a rhetorical device that was effectively what Ben used. You turned that into some bizarre personal remark (I certainly did not then nor do now think you're a bad poster or person) that anybody who knows anything about me would know I certainly didn't mean.
You did no such thing.
I mentioned that if people really believe "babies are being killed" they would do more than write letters.
YOU then used the excluded middle fallacy to accuse me of advocating violence (which I did not do).
Accusing me of being "worse than Ben" IS a personal attack that didn't require "turning". It's insulting on its face.
You can't claim you didn't know it was offensive as I made it very clear at the time how it was.
Finally, rather than deal with the issue as the person you claim to be, you just buggered off.

Its rather simple and as such you should be able to grasp the concept. There is no tea party national party. No tea party candidates. There are GOP, there are Dems, and there are a handful of independents in congress. Instead, those who identify themselves as tea party members are required to look at the bevy of candidates available for election that possibly may meet their platform goals. I direct you to google "Tea party platform" reference first hit.
Of the candidates available for them to support, those that meet the guiding principles outlined, are the ones that get support. Plain and simple. The fact that to date no democrats meet those criteria (as the intended desire is growth of scope of government by dems) and that a handful of Repugs do, of which those that do may or may not also be social cons, is rather immaterial to the stated goals and purposes of the tea party.
“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.” - Jimmy Carter

Go back and read my posts. I did not say Tea Party candidates; I said Tea Party-backed candidates, in same way that there can be NRA-backed candidates or Planned Parenthood-backed candidates. So thank you, Captain Obvious for pointing out that the Tea Party is not an actual political party like the Republican or Democratic party.
And you're still deluded in thinking that the Tea Party is not a socially conservative organization. Otherwise, I would like names of Tea Party-backed candidates who fully support equal marriage rights, or prominent/public Tea Party members who openly support equal marriage rights.
There's nothing immaterial for there being no Democratic politicians who are supported by the Tea Party; there's a reason, and it's called "social conservatism" along with the Tea Party's retarded tunnel vision and obsession with wanting austerity and unrealistic, absolute cuts in everything having to do with the evil, dark guberment.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
The Tea Party's website you linked says that its movement is a grass roots movement. It's a manufactured movement, financed and brought to you by wealthy elitists such as the Koch brothers.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
