  • **** off Ben.

Go back to talking about Texas. I'm sure you are just as uniformed on that topic as well, I just won't care.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

        Reg is not correct.

Net recipient provinces and how much they receive:

        Quebec ($7.833 billion)
        Ontario ($3.169 billion)
        Manitoba ($1.792 billion)
        New Brunswick ($1.513 billion)
        Nova Scotia ($1.458 billion)
        Prince Edward Island ($340 million)

        Net contributing provinces:

        Alberta
        Saskatchewan
        Newfoundland and Labrador
        British Columbia

Alberta is the only province to consistently be a net contributor for many decades. Even BC likes to be have-not with alarming frequency.

          It's called Ontari-OWE for a reason.

And why do you think I'm furious with Christy Clark? BC's no longer a have-not, and I'd like BC to stay there.

            • If you're genuinely curious, this is a great study about how equalization works in Canada. http://www.business.ualberta.ca/Cent...pril2final.pdf

It also shows you that Alberta only gets back half of what it contributes in revenue to Canada. The other half goes to the lazier provinces.

                Visually atrocious industrial turbines.

Our current government has had green insanity for several years.

I'm quite aware that Alberta is doing well. I'm also aware that the Nechako basin has significant oil and gas reserves that would be tapped with Northern Gateway.

I'd like Northern BC to be doing much better. Northern BC is smaller today than they were in 1990, 20 some years ago now. Out migration is a *****.

They should. There's a ****ton of resources there, many that haven't even been touched. Think an Alaska some thousand miles closer to the US border.

                      • Got enough resources in Alberta. BC has too many hippies.

We have so many mountain ranges that we have one just for confining the hippies. Plus there's an ocean for Vancouver Island. The interior should secede.

In retrospect I'm not surprised to see that I was wrong about Manitoba and Newfoundland. Kinda surprised about Ontario though. Obviously SK, BC, and AB are pulling their weight.

How dare they not want to pollute their land so that out of Province companies can make money. Personally, I would have agreed to it but charged sky high transit fees and massive upfront clean up fees which would have to be put into an escrow account before the first drop is even allowed to flow. There is no sense in waiting for a disaster and then trying to get money out of them since tar sands oil pipelines leak at about four times the rate of every other type of oil. This is because they must be mixed with acid in order to make them flow which eats out the inside of the pipelines much faster than normal light sweet) plus it is so thick it must be pumped at much higher pressures so when a leak does occur much more of it comes out. Then there is the problem that tar sands oil is so heavy it sinks in water instead of floats thus making convention clean up methods useless in bodies of water.
