Mass suicide could replace genocide. Calgarians, followed by all rural Albertans could lead by example.

Mass genocide is just as practical as anything else, and certainly more effective.

Canada should be doing whatever it can to encourage global warming. Thinning ice in the Arctic Ocean is already opening up the way to lucrative new sea lanes for Canada, and the improvement in the weather and growing season for farming have the potential to dramatically advance the Canadian economy. Moreover, very little of Canada's population lives in low lying coastal areas that might be harmed by rising sea levels. Small sections of St. John's, Vancouver, and Halifax might be affected, but the elevation rises up rapidly from the sea in all of those places. Vancouver would be the worst hit since the Ladner and Richmond areas are pretty low-lying.

MM&A has filed for bankruptcy protection, claiming it does not have the assets to cover costs of damages. The Government of Quebec, on behalf of the people of Lac Magentic, has filed against them as a secured creditor.

You can't get your new car out of the garage without a proof of insurance... but you can operate a rolling bomb all right.

Yep, the Quebec government really dropped the ball on that.

The CEO claims there is insurance. That said, claims could very easily exceed coverage given that there are claims in US courts for up to a billion dollars.

Harper personally told the line they could operate without insurance as long as they only drove their trains in Quebec. And only under the condition that they only ever set half of the amount of required brakes.

                          • Gonna go out on a limb and guess that all provinces east of Ontario are net transfer recipients and all provinces Ontario and west are net contributors.

                              • Ontario is officially a "have not" province now although that doesn't consider how we get screwed on other redistribution schemes (the EI racket for example).

This province is currently cursed by bad government and an even less promising opposition. No serious recovery on the horizon...just windmills...
