Not entirely sure how one can claim being of faith and believing when you don't know and then saying "show me proof".
Seems to be blatantly contradictory.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
If everyone was a paragon of Christian virtues couldn't you just have capitalism where people consume what they need and give away the rest of their income to charity? Any potential benefits from socialism would be moot.
The main difference would be in a non-central approach there would more likely be variation in how much people's needs were met. People who's plight are in the public spotlight would get more help than people who were needy but not in the public spotlight as much. People who were aware were not themselves capable of helping on their own.
In a centralized approach, it would be fairly simple to ensure everyone had their needs met, or at least had that option available to them. (In some cases people simply won't avail of the options available to them of course. This is true in either case.)
People can have faith in an ideology. However, in this conversation, the context appears to be the Christian faith.
Though Sava does get the point of frustration right, by advocating both sides of it (I guess that makes sense when it comes to Sava ) - "show me proof" vs "believing in that which we do not know" (FWIW, faith and hope [for the future working out] go together quite a bit in Christian Scripture for a reason)
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~ Hebrews 11:1
You either have faith or you don't. If you're working on it, that's great, but you don't have faith yet.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

He also hates Texans and Australians, he does diversify." ~ Braindead
For it to work literally, the laws of physics have to be just an illusion... what with the whole Jesus thing.
If someone showed you an atomic bomb 150 years ago - they'd say the same.

I guess the same could be said for George Washington. Henry VIII. Joan of Arc. You know, anyone not captured on film.

I wonder what kentonio thinks of Stephen Harper or John Key.
Given that I have zero interest in Canadian politics and I had to google who the hell John Key even is (and I have family there), I think you can be assume I think very little about either.
If someone showed you an atomic bomb 150 years ago - they'd say the same.
Yes, because someone producing an atomic bomb 150 years ago would have been a miracle (ie, a fairy story).
Or are you suggesting that Jesus was actually a fraudster from the future who traveled back in time with future technology to trick gullible peasants into thinking that he could do magic?
Maybe that's why it's much more difficult to become a saint these days...

Apparently miracles were more common back then...
Or the Welsh are extremely gullible.
“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
"Capitalism ho!"
Or are you suggesting that Jesus was actually a fraudster from the future who traveled back in time with future technology to trick gullible peasants into thinking that he could do magic?
I'm saying that just because we don't understand it today doesn't mean that it necessarily breaks the laws of physics. We don't know everything about physics, for one.
