Then why would you need to fast to lose weight? The only thing you will lose is lean mass. Your body needs food. If you want to lose fat, you need to raise your metabolism... not **** it up.
The 'ladder' is an accepted method of raising your metabolism.
As I said, it is recommended both for muscle gain and for weight loss.

For good muscle gain the recommendation is to have cutting periods and building periods.
This is with exercise, not instead of exercise.

So I started this last Friday (April 5th). I've gone through four fast days with no slip-ups; I buy those giant bags of vegetables (like Bird's Eye Normandy Blend, 23 servings @ 25 calories for 575 calories a bag) spice them up and eat my fill. It takes 2 or 3 sittings, so it doesn't really feel like fasting. I supplement that with a small handfull of smokehouse almonds and a can or two of low sodium V8 (both of which I've had daily for years), maybe an egg, so total calorie intake is in the neighborhood of 700 - 800 calories. On the feed days I'm eating like I always have, perhaps a bit more, but also a bit healthier.
Successful so far.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
So I've been on it for nearly a year, allowed myself to to completely drop off on holidays and other random intervals.
I'm eating less overall, there have been no binges, I feel really good most of the time, blood pressure's improved, chemistry's good, and, in spite of weight loss not being the primary goal, I've lost thirty pounds.

Good to hear! I've tried things like this before. Found it too swingy for me. Usually one day out of the week is enough, and I prefer the light days (and feel better with them anyways).
