Did I make that argument? No. My argument is that the state has a vested interested in restricting marriage to one man and one woman because of the benefits it accrues from marriage.

The actual argument you put forth was limited to generalized statisctics regarding child rearing. That's a rationale for restricting marriage to those who intend to produce offspring, and to require it as a condition of producing offspring. If you consider opposite sex couple incable or disinterested in producing offspring to nevertheless be eligible for marriage, then your argument for prohibition of same sex marriage no longer holds holier-than-thou water.
