I'd find pictures of lots of necessary things to be pretty terrible and disgusting, however theres a big difference between throwing around pictures and actually discussing the wider implications. For the record incidentally, I do find abortion to be a terrible thing, I just find the alternatives to be much more terrible.

Defecation is pretty disgusting, but that doesn't mean we should all stop defecating

Women being forced to undergo a potentially life threatening and extremely traumatic mental and physical condition against their will and then being potentially forced to raise a child they never wanted would be one of those. Exacerbated of course in cases of rape, incest and underage sex. Of course in many cases they wouldn't be forced to do that because they'd just get illegal abortions anyway like women did for generations, along with the dangers that brought of far higher risk of death, sexual exploitation, blackmail and potential incarceration.

Nice try. Technically, the answer is "no" as that is a philosophical argument, and, BTW, prohibited by the ex post facto clause. (e.g. legal personhood cannot be applied retroactively)

For those "negros" who met the legal standard for personhood, i.e. they were born. "Negro" is charming word, but it was on its way out of fashion already when I was a kid. The "polite" vernacular was changing to "colored," possibly due to a lot of segregationists pronouncing the word "nigra" so you knowed what they really meant. Of course, blacks couldn't refer to themselves as "colored" as that would be uppity. Referring to themselves as black was downright seditious. The legal term (typically used on segregated facilities and in statutory law) was typically "colored" as well, as that encompasses not only "negros" but whatever other mongrel races might want to sully white restrooms and swimming pools.

Nice of you to try to conflate two totally different issues, though.

Of course, the solution is real simple. Anyone opposed to abortion who wants to restrict a woman's right to choose should simply accept an embryonic or fetal transplant and carry to term and give birth themselves. Oh? You mean that won't work?

"human being" is not a species, it's a legal status.

The species is Homo Sapiens, of which there is one extant subspecies, Homo Sapiens Sapiens. The species distinction applies equally to a bone of a deceases individual, a fingernail clipping, or a sperm cell. The legal status of personhood does not apply except as defined by law.

Maybe Civnation will come back so we can have a fourth topic?

Only if it was a failure of birth control or unwanted sex...other than that...Good post (would have been perfect except for the dramatisation of the physical risk, which while correct is not usually an issue. )

Physical risk comes into play if (as some propose) an absolute ban, even in ectopic or other medically contraindicated pregnancies.
