• And a million other times. Doesn't change the fact he was a buffoon, incapable of much more than slaughtering prisoners.
Didn't seem to have any trouble with the Yucatan or the Republic of the Rio Grande...

• Maybe you and Ben should take your comedy act on the road and see how the rest of the country really is.
I think you can find my bus thread when I first came down to Texas... I've been through quite a few states now.

• If you weren't a moron I guess you could point out that Texas has a larger economy than Mexico today. That would be more persuasive than pointing out that Mexicans vastly outnumber Texans.
It's more persuasive when it doesn't come from me. Thanks Gribbler!

Yep, this economy seems to be firing on all cylinders.
I guess all those investors talking with their wallets must be wrong then.

You're kidding right? Both were ****ing jokes. The RRG was more successful, but it's "forces" numbered about 500-600 and the rebellion failed when their "general" was bribed to switch sides. That's a real rebellion for ya. Hell, even you and DD could organize a more effective force than that.

That would involve effort on my part.

More than at the Alamo FWIW.

• They fought at the Alamo.* Other than a couple of company strength skirmishes (companies of that era, not modern company strength), there was no real fighting by the RRG except local rabble rousing at the beginning of the "rebellion" if you could call it that.

There wasn't any fighting at all against the Yucatan.

Personally, I would have taken Santa Anna's ass back to Goliad and made his own men build a gallows (not that many would have minded). Prisoner of war my ass.

* If Fannin had got off his ass in time, and concerted effort made to improve the Alamo, they could likely have bloodied Santa Anna's army enough that the combined Texican force could have then executed a retreat in good order. That and the lack of sentries and real leadership prior to the fighting started helped Santa Anna. With proper sentries and recon, plus real concerted efforts to improve the fortification, proper artillery laying for counterbattery fire, etc., that position would have been a real tough nut for a buffoon like Santa Anna to crack.

If anyone in Texas had heard of grape or canister, that would have been a whole different story.

Investors would sit on cash rather than run up equities if they were not encouraged with current economic reports and future forecasts (not by the gov't, by whatever analysts, etc., they choose to listen to) You've heard of voting with your feet - this is voting with your wallet. And no bubbles this time.

The Dow, NASDAQ and S&P500 all running up to pre-recession levels, even near record levels, is a pretty strong consensus indicator that a whole bunch of 1% "job creator" types don't think the apocalypse is coming, or that the current occupant of the white house is really the Kenyan Marxist Muslim Anti-Christ(tm).

• Depends on what metric you use, MtG. If you look at inflation, we've gone 13 years now without an increase. That's Great Depression levels of economic activity.

You mean the nationality of the president isn't an economic indicator?

• Inflation doesn't apply to analysis of momentary pricing of equities.

• I think Ben is referring more to GDP growth vis-a-vis rate of inflation, or something along those lines.
