It is overpriced. With average income of about 40k, the prices should be about 3x that. That it's closer to 6x is unsustainable.

Yes, and all 8 million Mexican men, women and children were going to magically march up to El Bumfukistan del Norte. The largest concentrated force Santa Anna ever had was ~7000 men, and it could not sustain itself without proximity to the coast. Texas "won" because Santa Anna was one of the biggest buffoons and worst military leaders in history, and because it was too far away to be important.
