So, rabbits have large litters because they are mammals who have supposedly been around longer than primates ? Right. How many species of birds lay as many eggs as rabbits have young, or breed as often ?

Don''t forget, birds have been around even longer.

Also- has anyone noticed that societies not unduly affected by the Judaeo-Christian bias don't tend to worry themselves about where homosexuality 'comes from'- in cultures as different as those of various Native Americans and the inhabitants of Papua New Guinea, homosexuality is seen as natural, and no cause for stoning people to death or treating them as 'sexual deviants'.

Obviously birds have physical limitations that prevent them from having more babies, limitations that would not easily be overcome by evolution.

First, I don't stone people are consider them sexual deviants.
Second, I don't think of homosexuality as either unnatural or natural. I don't even believe in the need to be natural. In fact, I prefer not to be.

What do you mean by "been around even longer"? Synapsids split from reptiles a long time before some dinosaurs evolved into birds. Even if we ignore extinct branches of synapsids, mammals have been around longer.

Also, how come no one has mentioned K-r strategy distribution yet? Are you all just trolling Kuci?

Animals have instincts, but human beings make choices.
People can definitely "learn" to be homosexual, it happens in prisons all over the world, men who never felt attracted sexually to other men, after being repeatedly abused, eventually enjoy hay sex and have it voluntarily.

My father had an uncle who went to prison for confidence trick, all his life he had been a womanizer, and after the years in prison he was bisexual.

You also have the example of ancient greeks, how common it was for them to abuse ephebes, teenage men, and when those teenage men would grow old, they would do the same to the teenage men of their generation,
I think young victims of sexual abuse disproportionately end up as homosexuals as adults, so it isn't something purely genetic.
Although there are cases of little kids who are very feminine, prefer playing with Barbie's etc, and most likely they were born that way.

I've just looked up what the largest single clutch of eggs by one bird was.

                      It's 28.

And this is relevant how ? As a diversion, let me introduce you to the monotremes:

                            WHAT IS A MONOTREME?
Monotremes are the only group of mammals that lay eggs, i.e. they are oviparous, laying one to three eggs. They have a single posterior opening, the cloaca, for excretion and reproduction. The name monotreme means one-holed.
Monotremes resemble other mammals in producing milk to nourish their young, in having three inner ear bones and a single bone in the lower jaw. Monotremes are highly specialized feeders and the adults have no teeth.

Like marsupials, monotremes have lower metabolic rates than eutherian mammals but they are still endothermic and can maintain their bodies at a constant temperature regardless of environmental temperatures. They are one of the only two groups of venomous mammals, shrews are the other group.

Sense of humour failure. Your irony board collapsed.

You mean by telling you the truth?

What do you mean by "been around even longer"?
I was thinking of Archaeopteryx - dated to 150 million years ago. The recently discovered skinny shrew fossil is claimed for 160 million years ago- but before that, the earliest true mammal fossil was put at 125 million years old, give or take a day.

People can definitely "learn" to be homosexual
People can certainly engage in sex acts with people of the same sex, in prison, seminaries, the navy, the marines, the boy scouts- but that doesn't make them gay.

I knew I was attracted to male bodies from the age of 4- when I watched Sean Connery being bathed in 'You Only Live Twice'. I hadn't been molested (as far as I can recall), I hadn't even started infant school- and my parents were both heterosexual. Many indigenous/tribal cultures lack the prejudices and hang ups prevalent in supposedly superior cultures, and simply accept homosexuality as being part of the natural spectrum of human sexuality- at least until they become subject to the pressures and prejudices of Western/Judaeo-Christian biases.

That's nothing. Some sea turtles lay 250.
Oh lawks. Sea turtles- are they mammals or birds, would you say ?
