Google Insight is Google's polling company and pollsters like it because it provides a hell of a lot more info about the respondees plus it allows you to select or de-select any demographic you want as well as construct composite polls with only the demographics you want. Basically, it is a marketers dream come true.

I've skimmed some transcripts and I keep seeing references by Romney to a 2 year supermajority.

I'm no expert, but as I recall the Dems only had a 4 month supermajority.

Just about all the fact checkers are saying Romney told several whoppers but since when has Romney ever worried about the truth? This is a guy who has run multiple ads based on absolutely nothing other than something he just made up. Romney's dishonest even compared to other politicians.

It's not because of racism. Christ. It's just their way of pretending to themselves that the winner isn't actually eligible to be president. Although it doesn't help that he claimed to be Kenyan when he was on HLR or whatever.

THe filibuster has become a stand-in for a straight-up vote. In all but name you need 60 votes to pass stuff in the Senate today. With any majority in the House (217+ votes) and 60 senators and the white house, you have complete control of the government. The dems had that.

What they also had was a complete unwillingness to work with the Republicans in any way.

For all of four months, dip ****. Also, yes, the Republicans have literally been blocking 97% of all bills even ones they campaigned on and publically claimed to support. We're talking the single most obstructionist congress in the history of the country and it was all part of the Republican plan to kill EVERYTHING just so, in the words of Boehner, "we don't had Obama any victories". They've blocked everything and made sure nothing got done and now they're claiming it is Obama's fault that they blocked everything.

That's why they adopted a Republican model for health care reform, right?

Exactly, most of the liberals wanted universal single payer but they adopted the Republican plan in hopes that some Republicans would sign on board. They even weakened the bill making it worse multiple times because Republicans claimed if only this or that was weakened then they might vote for it but no sooner than the bill was weakened did the Republicans reject it and make demands for more parts being weakened. It was their game to water everything down and make worse.
