If you don't actually believe in biblical literalism then cool, but you can't on one hand say 'Mary was a virgin and gave birth to a child' and on the other say that it's not a scientific claim.

That doesn't make sense. Kid is saying who claims (ie, on the religious side) that Jesus's birth from a virgin mother is scientifically verifiable. You are linking that the New Atheists are asserting the virgin birth is a scientific claim. So when Kid says "who are you arguing with", that's a good question.

It seemed obvious to me that he was referring to those on the religious side not trying to prove Jesus's virgin birth scientifically. Hence, "who are you arguing with".

It seems more like you are just confused .
