      • Obama did not spend his whole life wealthy. There's no need to elect someone poor to the Presidency but having a leader who has actual experienced a normal lifestyle makes them a lot more likely to understand how real people live.
Has he ever worked for a living? I don't like Mitt, but hell, he worked hard and earned his money. What did Obama ever do?

          • Please explain to me what about fiscal responsibility is an appeal to the christian right.
We have an obligation to use our gifts responsibly. That includes our natural talents, and that includes things like money. The bible talks about how it's important to be fiscally responsible in your household.

It also makes the argument that Asher hates - getting married, having children, staying married, raising them together is the most reliable way to end up ahead. And the economics proves it, the least likely segment to end up in poverty have all of these things.

As for prolife arguments - that's 50-60 million Americans. What is the impact over the last 40 years of an America without these Americans, and roughly a fifth of the population gone? How many businesses folded, because of lack of demand over that period? Is it a coincidence that the last recession began, just as the baby boomers began to retire?

You mean he wasn't shipped over in a slave boat?

Note that I'm not married, and I have no kids. I consider myself highly successful, especially for my age. Society certainly appreciates me and compensates me accordingly.

Certainly far more than they do you.

Where does the bible say anything about that? It does condemn those who build up their own houses while neglecting God's house - it's not an either or question.

                      Couple things here.

One, I referred to the argument that you hate, living a Christian lifestyle is the most reliable way for people to get out and avoid poverty. This applies to everyone as a whole, not just you and me.

You want to say that your perceived prosperity and my perceived lack of prosperity is a reason why people should choose your way and not my way.

Well, Asher, let me ask you this. If you have to point out how rich you are and tell people how poor I am, what does that say about our relative levels of wealth?

It doesn't say anything about it in the bible. It does in an econ textbook though.

Sadly, Oprah handing out free cars would make her a better president than anything we've had to choose from lately. We'd spend a bit more than on the "stimulus" and stupid wars ... but for an obviously better cause (and result).

It says you're poor, Christian, and forever lonely.

Gay couples earn higher incomes than straight couples, if we're going to keep pointing at statistics to prove absurd assertions.

Statistics and economics do say if you smoke some pole you earn more dole.

Sure, the poor struggling child of a governor and auto giant had to work hard to borrow the money for his first home off his dad, and work even harder to use those private school connections to start a business ****ing over other peoples businesses. Real man of the people.

You're deceitful, dishonest, completely lacking in empathy and a generally unpleasant person. Are you suggesting you are an advertisement for a Christian lifestyle?
