Why can't I get interviews?

  • With me it's because I'm really casual at interviews and turn them into personal conversations. I mean I'll be working with this person so mightaswell befriend them. Make them want to hire me like I'm already their friend, right? I find something we have in common and talk about that. Stuff like that. Half the time I feel like I'm the one giving the interview since I ask far more questions than they ask me and mine are 50% unrelated to the job. This time I definitely asked far more questions.

Now I need to figure out their email addresses to send thank you e-mails.

    • Flubber, I imagine they usually do second interviews but decided to condense yours into one day.

The teller hiring process for Wells Fargo is the worst given the interviews:salary ratio. I did a phone interview, a group interview, and then a one-on-one interview.

ALBY IT was a third interview-- Do you think companies fly people a thousand miles for a first interview??

I did a first with the legal group-- was one of two that advanced to meetings with the business team ( 2 separate 90 minute meetings back to back )and was the only candidate they flew to Dallas from Calgary all expenses paid to meet with the head office team including the Chief Legal Officer of a maasive corporate entity.

The interview process is long since they seeking a senior legal counsel to advise on contracts that are frequently worth hundreds of millions of dollars. THey do a bit more due diligence

If he becomes an officer in the Marines, he could be making decisions that men live or die by. Wouldn't you hope those decisions got made by people who make reasonable back-up plans to cover anything less that 100% success?

I was flown out to Toronto (from Calgary) over a weekend for a second interview just before I graduated. And the 1st interview was about 15 mins...

Exactly-- I am not saying its extensive but unless you are well known
by someone or they have another method to pre-screen typically I would see either a quicky phone interview or something before they go to the expense of cross country travel. Perhaps others took an hour on that first pre-screen but maybe not-- It might have been easier to screen in youir case -- After all you were a new grad and the resumes for those are generally far easier than someone with 18 years of work experience

One of the things that has been very helpful to me after my father died is Johnny Cash. My father had a ton of his recordings in his collection, he must have picked them up in the last 5 years or so, because he didn't have them before. Mom says he was listening to Cash all the time.

Started listening to him after a couple years or so when it didn't hurt so much, and now I find it hard to believe that I didn't know anything about him.

                  • I just thought about Elok weighing 136lbs...

Dude, where do you buy clothes that actually fit you from?

I have almost 50lbs on you and it's a struggle to find clothes that actually fit me. I have to wear Extra Slim fits.

How do you manage? Or are all your clothes like dresses on you?

                        • I'm about 140, not 136. Before I left for Lima I was closer to 150, but I had a definite belly. It came from all those damn lunch breaks I took as a sub, and at the Census before that. Normally I eat a small breakfast, a good-sized dinner and light snacks; two actual meals a day screws me up. Anyway, it fell right off once I returned to my normal pattern.

I've never had much of a problem getting clothes, except when buying suits, where I'm a very irregular size. But since I almost never buy suits, that's not much of a problem. I wear standard size medium shirts, both t-shirts and dress shirts--just checked my Lyle & Scott from the closet next to me, it's a medium and it fits fine AFAICT. Nobody ever said it looked weird on me, anyway. Since I'm high-waisted and skinny, my pants size is a bit uncommon. I think I'm a 32/34 or some such; of course, I favor a looser fit for comfort. Even so, most stores have at least a couple of pairs in that size for most styles. Besides, I just buy jeans most of the time, and they're forgiving on size to some extent.

Umm... you wear them maybe to work and definitely to interviews right?

                                Why wouldn't you give a flying ****?

I try to make sure my dress clothes are the best clothes I have. Who doesn't? That's why they're DRESS clothes!

Fit is everything with clothes. It's all about fit. And the fact of the matter is, if I struggle to find well-fitting clothes at 185lbs, I can't imagine how you lot do it with 40lbs less bodyweight. I wear Extra Slims. Sizes that will fit you do not exist.
