I'm 5'11 1/2", 140 lbs. Skinny, but not emaciated. I tend to snack a little throughout the day and eat one big meal in the middle. The doctor's never told me I'm going to die or anything.

        Jesus.

Still I highly doubt you can't float because of body fat. I googled it and I don't know. Some people say it's a myth while others say it is a factor. Still, I'm skeptical that body fat plays a real role in limiting your ability to float to the point where you flat out can't float.

And I doubt your body fat is really even that low. People confuse skinniness with low body fat. You're probably skinny fat. Do all your abs show? If not, you're skinny fat and have a bodyfat above 10%.*

        5'11" 140lbs. Jesus. I was 5'11" 136lbs in 8th grade (I saw my 8th grade physical recently so I know this).

*bodyfat distribution can vary but just talking generally.

        • All I know is, I barely float. My abs aren't especially defined, I just have a slight crease down the middle. It's not like I really care either way.

Consider it an intervention. FFS. Trying to join the marines when you can't swim or drive? Embarrassing. Everyone should know how to do both well.

              • Albie, if you're still dreaming of becoming a marine, you need to build up confidence and skills.

Which you will achieve by working 1-2 years as a full time bank teller, possibly getting a promotion along the way.

You will take swimming lessons, learn to drive, and take your backpack to Europe or South America. There you will **** an impressionable young girl at a youth hostel.

Only then should you apply again.

I think this is probably the best advice you've ever given on this forum

                    • Also they are fairly irrelevant for the marines. He will be trained in the skills he lacks. His real threats are his physical ability (boneitis) and possibly the psych test (if it includes dogs).

If it's anything like the Starfleet entrance exam, it will. Oh, it will.

If you have a big breath of air in your lungs, you will float.

Of course knowing Ably he'll still **** that up!

So, are you saying you will turn this job interview down because it will take too much effort...!?

This sounds like the classic foot in the door. My first job was as a filing clerk aged 16 for Shell - followed by fairly rapid promotion during the time I was there - never looked back since and definitely set me up for the rest of my 'career'...

As for not knowing how to drive/swim/ride, I am basically speechless...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?
