No, if you carefully read the text it becomes clear, why this case was prosecuted.
The Afghan family tried to cover up their honor killing as an accident, therefore the jury had no choice but prosecute the case as murder.

Had the family instead, after killing the 4 women, clearly announced that they killed them and that it was an honor killing, the jury would surely have been forced to let them go free of charge (because of the honor killing exemptions that obviously exist in the canadian law)

Wasn't it pointed out somewhere else that so far every honor killing in Canada has been punished by maximum jail sentences? What more could Canada do? If they re-instate the death penalty for honor killikgs they'll have to re-instate them for all murders

Hey, if a child doesn't report getting molested then the Catholic priest who did it may never get caught. Who knows how many Catholic priests are really pedophiles? For all I know the number could be truly astonishing. And since Catholic priests have been stereotyped as pedophiles it must be true.

Prosecution by definition isn't 100 percent effective. It's trivial enough to show that the number of actual honor killings is >12. The real question you should be asking is how many are being done. That I don't know.
