Why don't we try for a more useful discussion instead of just bashing the nutter? For example, what do you think could be done to decrease the incidence of rape (though nothing can eliminate it, of course)? I think a good place to start might simply be a public campaign of some sort to try and encourage women to report rapes. Even if we see a miserable conviction rate, the crime needs to stop being invisible. Especially considering that, as Guy said, most rapes are done by acquaintances; even if it can't be proven, there will at least be strong social repercussions, and that's better than nothing. Your thoughts?

I'm saying it's extremely rare for the above scenario to occur, and that even if it did occur - that there are steps one can do to drastically reduce your odds of getting raped. Such as owning a gun, knowing how to use it, knowing how to defend yourself and not being intimidated.

Apparently saying this makes me public enemy number one. I guess I should state you should do the PC thing and dial 9-1-1 so the cops can get there after everything has been said and done. Because the Cops will protect you from rape.

You never answered that. You said you would encourage. What if she decided to abort because of the trauma attatched? Would you allow it ? That's the answer we were looking for.

I wouldn't allow it, unless her pregnancy were ectopic. If she chose to go ahead and do it (the law here gives me exactly zero say), then it would happen, regardless of whether I would or would not allow it. Would I understand her rationale for doing so? Absolutely. Would I stop supporting her if she chose to go ahead and do it? Absolutely not. She's my wife, and I love her. But I would not allow it or agree with it one bit. It's her child - and I could no more abort her child than I could do so to any of her other children.
