It would just give you another tangent to spin off on that no one but you gives a **** about. I'm never going to be able to convince you that the RCC treat women like second class citizens, despite it being obvious to almost every non catholic. Actions are what counts, not justifications from scriptures. Women can't be priests. How much more blatant can you get. Hiding behind scriptures to justify that treatment is what make you a douche bag. And your "they're allowed to contribute in other ways", is just more proof that they're not treated like men. If they were treated the same they wouldn't have to contribute in other ways, they could do it like men do.

No it teaches that women can't be priests. WOMEN are denied the opportunity to be priests. Yes, the church pats them on the head and says they can contribute in other ways, but it doesn't change the fact that they won't let them be priests. I don't care whether they think they're catholics or not.

There are 45 thousand Catholic priests world wide out of roughly 1 billion Catholics. That means that if there are 50 percent male, and 50 percent of those are men, that there is a pool of 250 million Catholic men eligible to be priests. That means that about 1 in every 5000 Catholic men is a priest.

So 99.98 percent of Catholic men are not priests either. Are you telling me that being treated the exact same as 99.98 of Catholic men is reason to assume that Catholic women are getting the shaft?

Out of those 99,98 percent of Catholic men that are not priests, what percentage of them could be priests if they chose to be? Most of them.
How many of those women could be priests if they chose to be. NONE of them.

Jon, I'm very much an Augustinian on those particular issues, as opposed to Aquinas and Chrystostem, that the article spends most of their time discussing. I don't really fit in well with the Aristotelians on this point.

I think I mentioned it very much that I'm quite inclined towards Hobbes and his way of looking on the world. Hobbes and St. Augustine share many similarities.

I wrote an article on some of these issues before - it's one of the reasons why I was so taken by Ste Therese, and her way of looking at the world and Pope John Paul II, both of whom very much approved of the Augustinian way of looking at the world. Or even with the "ecstacy of ste theresa".
