Obama used to be a good public speaker when he was devoting most of his time to campaigning. Seriously, he never said anything on the level of "the trees are the right height".

If you define 'campaigning' as 'attempting to act in such a way that Americans will want to give him another term' then you can claim that any president who didn't eat babies on camera 'never stopped campaigning'. Now that's ridiculous. As President a lot of his time is being occupied by his responsibilities (which are greater than a freshman senator's responsibilities) while Romney is free to work full time at talking to voters and giving speeches and he still can't come up with anything inspiring that would make anyone enthusiastic about Romney.

Newt Gingrich had an order of magnitude more support at his peak and is a poster-boy for being an immoral scumbag. Republicans were willing to flirt with every candidate except for Huntsman and Ron Paul. Why? Because most Republicans are extremists who refuse to accept anyone who deviates from the accepted "conservative" platform in any way.

I honestly think this is good news for the GOP. He's the kind of person that holds the party back from doing obviously good things. Anyone who listens to him is gonna vote GOP no matter what, so nothing is really lost from him dying away.

Bingo. Anyone can run, but he should have been out in the earliest stages after sensible Americans turned away from him in droves. Instead he's an actual contender and that is appalling. He wants a theocracy and doesn't even try and hide that.

Look...I certainly don't want a theocracy, but what gives you the right to belittle those that do? I am sure that they are just as convinced they are right as you are. Personally, I think an attack of the issues does more in the long run to eliminate this type candidate than personal attacks do.

The reason that Santorum doesn't appeal to me in the least is not his beliefs (good for him for believing what he wants!), but the fact that the policies that he want to come from them I believe would limit individual rights, be destabilizing to the economy, and harm the U.S.'s international position.

This is all for show. By publicly pulling support for his show after he makes offensive comments they can make themselves look good. They won't lose much by choosing to advertise elsewhere and other advertisers can easily take their place.
