I'd prefer to wait for the video evidence before I make a call.

      Hm, good point.

I do believe that the best way to attack nazism is to attack its principles and not its supporters, Mr. Godwin.

              Good luck with that

              Nazi: I hate Jews.
Non-Nazi: Allow me to explain the inconsistencies of your ethos...
              Nazi: **** off, Jew-lover.
              Non-Nazi: I am slain

So you'd have given Hitler a free pass and criticised people for criticizing him? Seriously?

I didn't mean to imply that attacking ideas instead of people was giving anyone a "pass". I do believe that discrediting an idea has a better longterm effect than discrediting a person.

Depends if somebody's following an idea or if they're following a person. It probably would have been more beneficial to have discredited Jim Jones as a lunatic than to have discredited his ethos

What was that Vonnegut story about the Nazi propagandist who wrote such absurd lies about the Jews that he was certain no one would believe them? Of course, to his dismay, people did.

                            • Did I stroke out earlier this thread, or did HC actually claim that Romney is as charismatic as Obama?

Because that is all kinds of nuts, that is.

                              • Struth. In terms of charisma, 2012 Obama is to 2008 Obama what 2012 Romney is to 2012 Obama.
