Canada sounds like a sensible version of the US. If only they could swap territories. Just imagine a Canadian California.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

The pledge is a trifling irrelevance which could be phased out at any time with no harmful effect. I, at least, wasn't forced to say it, only to stand up for it. I knew a kid who refused to do even that, and didn't get in any trouble.
As for this Tebow guy, considering Asher supposedly doesn't even watch NFL football...

I think it's a cultural thing. In some cultures, the nationalistic indoctrination of schoolchildren is considered distasteful. The genesis of the "evil Finn" concept- Evil, evil Finland

Why do you assume 100% compliance with this group? The ad was specifically about abortion although it didn't really say anything direct. Find me where Tebow makes statements in support of the other positions you ascribe to him.
