Are you saying that the bible isn't god? If you're saying that the bible isn't god, then you're contradicting what you've said previously. If you still maintain that the bible is god, then you're being dishonest by accusing me of creating a caricature of you; in this case, you really ought to confirm with the members of your church that they also believe that the bible is god.

Because if you merely quote scripture to members of your church (without telling the church members of your interpretation of the scripture) then you acknowledge that your interpretation of scripture may be incorrect. I want to know if you would tell members of your church that you interpret scripture to say that the bible is god and that you worship the bible accordingly.

Did you select that particular verse to imply that the Word is no longer God somehow, or are you just quoting one random part of John 1:1 verbatim? In either case, it wouldn't hurt you to answer Loin directly.

I have already explained the interpretation, as have others, so once again you are lying.

Go to church tomorrow and tell your minister that you believe that the bible is god and that you worship the bible. Worst case he should say "yeah, duh," and no harm done, right? If you aren't willing to do this, then please explain why not.

We have all been basically shouting the correct interpretation at you, repeatedly over the past six pages or so of discussion (roughly; I have not actually counted so I could be off): "The Word" refers to Christ and not the Bible. This interpretation is supported by patristics, linguistics, and the Bible itself. You say that The Word refers to the Bible and Christ in some combination, depending on when we ask you. You have offered no support for this interpretation except that you think our brains naturally associate "word" with "Bible." Which was certainly not the case with the original Greek word logos, and isn't the case with me.

Kid: If you asked me to go to my secular humanist buddy and say "I don't believe in god and evolution is awesome," then I wouldn't hesitate to do so. I don't understand why you continue to dance around your belief that the bible is god - it should be a simple matter to confirm your belief with others of a similar mind.
