What kind of mountains don't have tree lines?

The highest peak in Blue Ridge is only 6,600 feet. To put that in perspective, the elevation of Calgary is 3,438 feet and the mountains outside of Calgary hit around 13,000 feet.

I'm not joking when I say that Blue Ridge would classify as being part of the foothills of the mountains around here.

Uh, Prince George is closer to Mount Robson than Calgary is to Mount Robson.

        300 miles away, dude.

Alberta's tallest mountain is only 12,294 feet. You guys have wimpy mountains.

              Only 12,294 feet. Indeed.

California does have beautiful mountains. They're not as nice overall, though -- mainly because California's weather (even in Tahoe, etc) really takes away from it.

However, unlike Virginia...California does have actual mountains.

Virginia has actual mountains. They aren't as tall, and they aren't snow-capped, but they are mountains.

They're what we lovingly call Eastern "mountains". Some people call them poor-man's mountains.

What is so great about having mountains?

                    • Skiing. Which while it isn't as good as out west, is passable for day trips around here.

There are plenty of all of these.
