One note: Fairfax County is huge and has lots of different kinds of areas. So if I had to live in Fairfax County, I could probably find someplace somewhat less objectionable.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The NRA range is the best for rifles. You can join the Issac Walton League, but they're kind of uptight. What are you looking to shoot?

Fairfax or Calgary. Tough decision for me.

I have lots of friends in Calgary. Calgary's probably the only city I'd actually want to live in if I were to stay in Canada.

Now, if you were talking about a different county in VA, sure, but Fairfax in NOVA? I'll say Fairfax, because even the worst county in the US > Best place in Canada.

I'm pretty sure ben doesn't know anything about Virginia. He'd probably move to Lexington for the nightlife.

Actually, I know a little bit about VA. One of my ex-gfs, (the Korean), moved there for law school. She went to Regent in Virginia Beach. She said she liked it there. I have family in New Hampshire that took a trip down to Williamsburg.

I think I'd probably like it in Virginia, but not in Fairfax. Albemarle looks more my speed.

              Charlottesville? Really?

Did you just randomly pick a county that looked north of richmond but south of fairfax?

Well, have fun at UVA. I don't think you could get in, though.

                Shenandoah national park.

Actually, Augusta with Staunton would probably be better.

You picked a college town for easy access to a national park that stretches across much of the state?

                  What the ****.

Middle 50% rate for SAT scores:

                    610-720 Critical Reading
                    630-740 Math
                    620-720 Writing
My SAT was 1560. 800 in reading and 760 on the math portion.

You have to remember that I was the Valedictorian of my high school of 400 kids. If the school takes the top 10 percent, I was in the top percentile of undergraduates that were admitted. I was also in honours at UBC till I left and finished up in Prince George.

Well considering as I'm a teacher who tutors college students on the side.

                      What the ****.
It's beautiful country. I've only seen pictures of it.

Ben, you could not get into UVA. The moment anyone interviewed you they would put you on the "send to the gas chambers if he sets foot in Virginia" list. Also, I think kids at the #2 public university in the country would be better off without your horrid tutoring.

(Also, it's easier to get in if you live in Virginia. Look at the scores for people applying from out of state.)

Also, remember that I have a hearing impairment. I slot in for the diversity quota, and I would not lower their admissions standards.

You have to write essays? I'm very good at writing essays.

they would put you on the "send to the gas chambers if he sets foot in Virginia" list.
Doubtful, as I interview very well.

UBC isn't exactly the weakest school in Canada and I had no difficulties getting admitted. As for the quality of my tutoring, you'd have to take it up with my customers who seem quite satisfied.

Why would he be trying to go to UVA? To get a masters degree or a PhD?

Oh, I'd imagine so. It usually works out that way. But my SAT was not a poor score, plus again, they have a diversity quota. It's very rare to see anyone with my impairment at that level for entrance into college. I should know because all of UBC had 3 others, besides me on admissions of 30k.
