Priests are not necessarily citizens of the countries where they serve. This is part of the problem. Citizens of other countries, (including the Vatican), have different rights and responsibilities in the United States, and that's not getting into the differences between jurisdictions other than the US.

Without diplomatic immunity, this is irrelevant. If an Italian priest visiting the US rapes a child in Texas, then trust me, that priest is going to prison.

The problem is mostly solved, at least in America, though there will always be some that come up, unfortunately. Most of the cases were at least 30 years ago and the priests would be well past the age of retirement. By the standards of secular discipline, the cases have already been long past the period where they could be successfully prosecuted.

Irrelevant, as that wasn't the question. Also, I'm not sure there's a statute of limitations on rape, at least not in most states.

And I prefer the pill to condoms, because the sex feels better. I am perfectly happy to use condoms, though, if the pill is not being used, because condoms are far better than STDs, especially the very virulent version called children.

For those keeping score at home, barrier contraceptives, such as condoms, are permitted in (most schools of) Islam. The 'pull-out method' is also acceptable, though not effective as a form of birth control.
