This has to be the least important issue Cuomo could possibly have taken up. New York
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "
I don't actually care one way or the other what New York does. Just trying to insert a little realism into this jubilation, can't let Slowwie do it by himself.
Fvck you.
I know all about realism with the issue of gay marriage, because I and others in the local gay community have been dealing with a vicious backlash in Iowa brought on by out-of-state bigots.
I don't need jackasses like you to put realism into my face - I have seen some of the backlash.
And don't be such an ******* to tell others that they shouldn't discuss issues just because they don't live in that other state.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Actually, he's pretty close to the truth, in this case. This is hardly a pressing issue, particularly with the economic and fiscal situation most of the country (including New York) is in.
The budget deficit and impending debt crises in various states, including new york, are somehow less important than your fake civil right? Pull the other one, man.
Improving the education of a generation of children is less important than the right of less than 10% of the population to legally be considered married so they can have a scrap of paper saying so?
So please provide us at what percentage of the population has to be effected by a bill before a legislature should be considering it, and under what precise economic conditions. I guess a chart would be in order. I presume you'd also have protested the 1964 Civil Rights Act under the same reasoning, as no doubt Congress could have passed something else that effected more than ~14% of the population at that time, right?
And if you really believe the rights and benefits of marriage amount to just a "scrap of paper saying so," you're even more of an ignorant ass than I imagined.
It's amazing to me that people on both the left and the right are so willing to get spun up about relatively unimportant culture war issues while paying comparatively little attention to important economic issues.
I agree with Drake. The republicans wasted too much time dithering on this issue.

So, you cram your ideals down other people's throats, and you are put out when they do the same to you? Why are you surprised.
People are angry that they didn't get a chance to vote on it to have a say on how they will be represented.
The reason it's not put on a ballot, is because you don't really believe in democracy, unless it agrees with you. And you know most people do not support it.
