    • Do you think your school administrators should be able to fire you due to your ******ry?
Fire me? Dear me, why do you think I work there anyways? They like me.

It's a sad day when you're making ben seem like the reasonable one.

Do you have any idea how the payscale for teachers generally works, or why low starting salaries are exactly what you would expect from a heavily protected and unionized profession?

              • My mother has about 18 years experience IIRC. She makes north of 75k in a relatively low cost-of-living area, teaching kindergarten. Now add in the ridiculously generous pension benefits and the fact that she only works 10 months a year and the fact that she basically can't be fired...

I have an idea for how the payscale works. What do you think starting should be for teachers un unionized?

                  • The fact that you think that question has a meaningful answer with the information anybody has right now (and I'm including people who research, e.g. educational economics) demonstrates how far from reality you are.

I know that the average teacher salary is driven upward from teachers' marginal product by State-required and subsidized education. I know that unionization tilts pay toward more senior members and away from less senior members. I know that unionization tilts total compensation away from pay and toward retirement benefits. I know that unionization reduces the ability of management to discriminate between top and bottom performers in pay.

When the State intervenes as massively in a marketplace as it does currently in primary and secondary education, even the question of what a teacher "should" be paid loses meaning. When a union is so strong that seniority in its ranks is immensely valuable in and of itself, the situation is even worse.

So in the nebulous world of oughts and is, you don't know the answer but you just know you don't like the status quo. Fair enough.

                            • More likely it means that it is much easier to say that I hate poor people and minorities than to actually address the point. A couple of people came close at first, but then didn't bother to address my response. The fact is, the only solid response I have gotten is that the right solution is to raise taxes. I forget who said that, and I can't be arsed to scroll up, but the point is, that is completely out of line with what the voters of Wisconsin want, as evidenced by their election of a Republican Governor and a GOP Assembly and Senate.

                              • Lot of minorities in Wisconsin.

                                German (42.6%)
                                Irish (10.9%)
                                Polish (9.3%)
                                Norwegian (8.5%)
                                English (6.5%)
                                Italian (6.1%).

What is this, the Honkey revolution?

Why are you trying to keep the White man down, Floyd?
