Obama = mainstream US liberal. To Drix, that's Stalinism. That's what's so funny here.

There is a point being echoed numerous times throughout the last few weeks in various articles. Namely how do Dems ever think to curry favor with the 'great unwashed masses" when they continue to provide ample evidence of condescension on an almost daily basis.
That would be where a guy like Clinton is the example who should be followed. I'm not a Dem politician, though, so I don't really give a **** about their branding efforts.

Mainstream US liberal=20% of the population. Therefore, he's an extremist. Conservatives make up 40% of the population.

Left of center is about 30% of the population and right of center is about 40% of the population. The remaining 30% are in the middle. The key is to get the centrists and one side which is why it is so retarded to go ever more extreme the way the Republicans have been going; you'll even lose some of the slightly right of center people if you go to far to the right.

Dan, I should have specified, but I meant other than Clinton (though I'm surprised you credit him, given that the standard GOP line is that it wasn't him, it was the GOP congress and the dastardly Clinton monster just pretended or had no choice or something).

20% of the US population = Stalinists. Thank you for continuing to illustrate my point, Drix.

Further, though only 20% of the pop self-identifies as liberal, liberal policies tend to poll better than that. At least some of the difference is due to the successful demonization of the term "liberal" and the glorification of "conservative." Strong PR work by the Right there.

I have many things to criticize him over, even with regard to spending. For instance, he should have ratcheted back the taxes and spending in the last couple of years of his presidency. And I do wonder whether he would have spent like a liberal if he hadn't had his hand slapped in 1994.

Edit: That was meant for Drix.

This just in. More people think the worst president evah did a better job than what Obama is doing. Ouch

Worse, Schoen adds, "43 percent say that Barack Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush, while 48 percent say Bush was a better president than Obama has been."

People who think Bush is the worst president ever have short memories, and are short-sighted and melodramatic.

Indeed, Reagan did more long-term damage.

I'm talking about George W. Smith, from city council, he ran in '93, out in Oakland, you probably didn't hear about him...

Looks like things are breaking slightly more to the GOP at the last minute. Seems like the Dems are demoralized.

I fully expect the GOP to do well this election cycle. Will that translate into progress in the capitol? Probably not.
