It wasn't just burger king And I wasn't some typical BK manager I was in charge of maintaining a franchise contract and being who the BK corporate guys talked to when they came in and wanted to make changes to our franchise.

I was also managing a much larger operation... it included the equivalent of 12 BK's (they were different brands... we had an Auntie Anne's, an Einstein Bagel, etc. plus several in-house brands and a full-staff kitchen; around 120 employees), another dozen off-field sites, including a Starbucks.

Maybe I'm wrong but the scale of the operation I think is impressive. How can I represent that and my job duties properly? Fast food supervisor does not AT ALL represent to the average HR person what my job actually entailed.

I was unemployed for almost a year, the only gap being a really crappy bookselling job, so I gave up and applied for every sodding call centre job I could find. I bagged a pretty rubbish one ("where exactly is the dogs mess?"), but I've since moved to a huge multinational doing customer service for their select clients. First time in my life I've had the chance to earn some serious money.

All the people in my training group have cack humanities degrees, graphic design, law, history, sociology, etc. Pretty much what you expect, tbh.

My advice is to give customer service another try.

Absolutely not. Depending on your employer they will take anyone with the professional qualifications in the ares where they wish to teach. Elok's more than qualified to teach and work in HS. That being said, he will need the certification to teach in whichever state he belongs, at least in the public system.

You need it to teach in Philadelphia:

Become a certified teacher through an in-state program. There are 93 colleges and universities in the state of Pennsylvania that offer programs in education. Three schools in the Philadelphia area with these programs are Temple University, Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania. Students in these programs must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 noted on their Bachelor's or Master's transcript

Become a certified teacher in Pennsylvania with a teaching program from another state. The candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, with a GPA of 3.0 as noted on their transcripts. Take the appropriate tests required in the out-of-state program for teacher certification.

I'm pretty sure NYC is Masters degrees only since I know someone whose husband worked as a teacher both in NYC and Philly and I was told a Masters degree was required to teach in NYC.


Of course, who knows what wacky things some private schools might accept... public schools require at least a Bachelor's in education.
