Well, to get things back on track (I'd like to note in passing that Moby is possibly the most clueless atheist I've ever met; he keeps repeating that perfectly idiotic, simplistic argument as though it's QED), Asher, getting drunk at an emotionally tense occasion is generally a bad idea unless you know for sure you'll be a happy drunk who will relieve the tension. I wouldn't do it, if for no other reason than because your brother and SIL-to-be will be under a lot of stress already.

Certainly the bride will be. Even in a normal wedding, the lady in white is generally buried alive under nosy, pushy relatives, demands from caterers and a billion other people demanding her attention, and the perverted ultimatums of the monstrosity known as the wedding industry. Plus I think women are naturally more emotionally invested in it somehow.

With that in mind, I'd say your top priority should be to support the couple and keep them strong by all means available. You won't make up for the mother doing her fanatic routine (which, of course, you can't help), but you can try. I am, however, surprised that this whole possibility wasn't addressed beforehand...did the bride not know her mother as well as she thought she did? Or did they expect something like this, and brace for it ahead of time?

I enjoy debate and discussion.

You see, this is how the process works.

1. I express an opinion.

2. You disagree with the opinion

Now follow carefully.

You proceed from step two to trigger, "this opinion is inflammatory".

You then proceed, "any opinion to which I find inflammatory is intolerant"

You then proceed, "intolerance cannot be tolerated".

Then you post a bigotted statement like the above. This is the cycle of bigotry. You need to break it.

So the majority is inevitably correct? This, btw is a perfectly logical preposition. If I am the only one defending a concept, it is equally logical to say that I am wrong and everyone else is right, or that everyone else is wrong and I am right.

Facts are facts yes. You again are creating something completely retarded as an argument. These are two completely different subjects. There is no scientific research proving any religion wrong. As long as people believe it's there then it's there. And I know you are going to make something up about this part. Unfortunately that's how faith works. There is no scientific research proving Gay Marriage to be wrong. People believe it's wrong because it's not something they agree with. So using an argument like 2+2=4 does not even relate to this.
