thats just how some moms are about their kids

but congrats to your Bro, sounds like he found a good woman (uh oh, whats that biblical saying about the seed falling close to the tree? )

This is a good test of the strength of their relationship, you know, the vow about thru good times and bad...

started a topic Christianity ruins families.

    Christianity ruins families.

My brother (atheist) and his fiancee (Christian in name, non-practicing and agnostic in reality) are getting married in a couple weeks.

His fiancee's mom told my brother (told, not asked) that there will be a 1 minute grace before the meal. Considering the vast majority of people are not religious, he declined and said they would ask the MC to provide an opportunity for any individual tables to say grace if they so choose.

So the fiancee's mom has flipped out. She's now terrified that her daughter is marrying a "non-believer". She's grilling her daughter about why my brother is a non-believer and is now trying to convert my brother before the wedding. When my brother's fiancee said she was backing up my brother -- just do the individual-table-grace thing, HER MOTHER HAS STOPPED TALKING TO HER.

Two weeks away from the wedding, the bride's mother is giving her the SILENT TREATMENT over not having grace forced on each and every table.

Not only this, they're not only stressed over the wedding itself, but my brother just accepted a job offer in Vancouver and his fiancee is studying to write an optometry exam so she can practice in BC. They need to coordinate their wedding and a cross-country move (and find a place to live) all within the next few weeks.

And the mother-in-law is being an uber *****.

Religion: #1 cause of tension, arguments, fights, and wars in this world. God help us all.
