I have a sensorineural hearing loss. I can hear a Soprano C. I can hear B5. I cannot hear D5 or anything above. Tenor C and below, I can hear just fine, between Soprano C and Tenor C, I don't hear much, but I can hear some.

My loss is total after about 1000 HZ. This is considered to be a profound hearing loss, because it doesn't matter how high the decibels are after that particular frequency. Low pitches are just fine.

Although I suppose as far as disabilities go, it could be a lot worse than Ben's limitations.

I'm not questioning your overall point, but don't young people have more accidents because they're inexperienced and impatient?

Do poor people have more car accidents than rich people? I wouldn't have thought so.

Probably not but when they do crash it is more likely to be in a ****box of a car with lower survivability.

Interesting stat in Oz: one in three deaths in car accidents the victim wasn't wearing a seat belt, while at any one time 90% of car passengers are wearing seatbelts.

Yea, poorer quality cars are definitely part of it. Roads in poor neighborhoods aren't kept up as well either. Plus different levels of education. I haven't looked into it, but I wager seat belt use is different among those of different income levels as well.

Because young people are more likely to be low income it skews their stats. So most (but not all, I grant you that) of their higher death rates on the road is due to their economic class, not their age. And yes, the study I'm citing looks solely at fatal accidents. I'm not sure how overall accidents break down via age and class.

But no one bothers to look into that or bothers to do anything but take the easy answer and blame it all on their age. Just like people do with this blood donor issue. And it is particularly frustrating.

I can't hear below 100Hz on my laptop speakers, but my reference headphones play them all.

I can hear down to 10Hz on there, but I've a feeling the audio compression alters it.
