And in terms of Israel-US relations, Israel's proven to be an extremely valuable ally. It's pretty much our only dependable ally in the region (Turkey wouldn't really be with us through thick and thin). Furthermore, they prevented Iraq from getting nukes, prevented Syria from getting nukes, and continue to provide valuable intelligence in the region and are undoubtedly responsible at least in part for Iran taking so long to get nukes.

The goal is to force hamas out of power, and the thesis is that the methods they are using will get the palestinians to revolt against Hamas. Whether this is true is a separate point.

This would be a point in your favour if you think the CIA should be operating in the region. Most people should realize by now that the CIA operating in the middle east is what got America into the mess it's in now. Do you think the Middle East would give a **** about the US if the US just stayed out in North America and minded its own business?

It was the CIA's incessant meddling that provoked the current conflicts we have.
