Apologies to BK. You were right about gay marriages.
So, in your opinion, atheists are unethical by nature?
If by ethics, you mean 'adhere to a logical system or philosophy', then yes, they are ethical.
But if you mean 'conform to the tao', or the code of laws written on our hearts, then no, they are not ethical.

If you simply attempted to make whatever retarded point you're driving at without the pseudo-Socratic bull**** then it would speed things up immensely.

I tried to read what was written on my heart, but I fainted after the third cut, while trying to perforate my sternum. I was rushed to the ER, and the doctors say I'll be OK. I asked, and they promised there is nothing written on our hearts.

Perhaps it would help if you gave an example of an illogical law written on your heart that you adhere to. Preferably one that runs counter to all philosophical systems, though I realize that may be a tall order - I'll be content if the law is merely illogical. It would also be swell if the law had something to do with your interactions with others (i.e. a law that would actually be relevant to atheists, as opposed to some irrelevant copout like "believe in the one true god").
if you get ethics from your heart why does you need to believe in a god to have them? are you saying atheists don't have hearts?
Actually, it's the other way - god belivers has replaced their hearts with whatever their god says.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The Bible says all humans, believers or not, have the law of God; don't kill, be nice to your neighbour, don't lie etc, written in their hearts. Basically, God has given all humans a common ethical norm in the bottom of our very humanhood.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalms 139.14a

No offense, but I really don't think that some god are responsible for me being ethical. Such behavior is actually way older than cristianity, so it's quite offensive that the christian religion tries to claim it as theirs.

The question of whether ethics are mandated by divine writ isn't very interesting: it's unlikely that a theist is going to convince an atheist that ethics are mandated by an entity that the atheist doesn't believe in, and it's unlikely that an atheist is going to convince a theist that God is amoral. The question is, does it really matter? If God's laws make sense (i.e. are logical and reasonable) then an atheist can figure them out without (knowingly) speaking directly to God. If on the other hand God's laws are illogical as Ben claims them to be then an atheist won't be able to figure them out without divine inspiration. The question then is: "what divinely mandated laws that are relevant to the atheist are contrary to logic and reason." What immoral acts are the atheist doomed to perform out of ignorance as a result of not receiving or ignoring divine inspiration.
