Are you suggesting that they aren't?
As far as I'm aware, at least half of Hispaniola is better off having met the Spaniards, despite the manner in which they met. They were savages of the first order.

Forgive my ignorance. There are natives left?

To be fair, the other half is at least a level above savagery. Sometimes I think it's arguable whether it was worth it for them, though. That's one sorry ass place.

Hey, I'm not the one who trotted out this strained analogy. I'm just working with what was given.

"Strained analogy"? It's the most obvious analogy available in the human historical record. The fact that you can't make a good case for the indigenous peoples of America being better off after Europeans killed off the majority of them through violence and disease has more to do with the weakness of your position than it does with the quality of the analogy.

It may be the most obvious analogy, but it's still very strained. Presumably, we wouldn't have intermarriage, bondage, shared perception of valuables (gold and silver), missionary zeal, similar digestive systems, common modes of disease propogation, and on and on. It's worse than those stupid Chinese analogies regarding foreign policy about somebody robbing your house.
