  • In case of a hung parliament, will there be a coalition or just a minority gov and changing majorities with single issues?

    • The Conservative over-arching theme: "A 'big society' rather than a big state".

That sounds like a direct rebuttal of Thatcher

Never try to anticipate the outcome of a hung parliament.

The other possibility is a vote of no confidence followed by another election.

Labour wouldn't dare do that - they need to get a credible leader and bed him in first. Nor would the Lib Dems if they got a decent amount of seats. Only way I could see that working would be if the Tories got completely screwed and somehow lost seats to Labour, and Lid Dems don't make many gains.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

                • Interesting to see the right-wing press concentrating on smearing a LibDem leader. That's something I've not seen before in the seven previous General Elections I can remember.

                  • The Guardian have a swing-o-meter toy too. You can view the effects on your own constituency. In mine, (Islington North), even the max allowed 10% swing away from Labour won't shift the Labour incumbent. Under 1st-past-the-post, individual votes seem meaningless in constituencies with large majorities.

Browse the 2010 constituencies to see how the country stands, and use the three-way swingometer to see how various scenarios would affect the outcome

                      • it's getting really interesting now, a genuine 3 horse race. the 'clegg bounce' following the first leader's debate has receeded, but only slightly and most polls still have the lib dems level with labour or one or two points ahead. the tories are polling between 33% and 36% of the vote, so it looks like we're heading for a hung parliament.

meanwhile brown's new strategy of meeting ordinary voters has suffered something of a setback
