No one is persecuting the Catholic church. People in the church committed crimes and the church covered these up, which enabled more crimes to be committed. These are facts.

It is not at all the same thing as the persecution of the Jews. We're at that point where, like any religious argument, when the religious people can't argue on the grounds of realit they resort to the argument of "anything you say remotely bad about the organization I worship is persecution!".

In the face of evidence showing that ecclesiastical courts tend to be harsher than secular courts I fail to see how you've drawn this interpretation. Perhaps because you tend to disregard evidence contrary to your own contention.

I've shown that the average release time is around 2 years for all sexual offenders in the secular courts. This is much lower than what the punishments the ecclesial courts inflict which last in perpetuity.

1. Yes, there are people who are persecuting Catholics.
2. Yes, some people who are priests committed crimes 30 years ago.
3. Yes, some of the bishops associated with said priests covered up their own offenses and those of the priests under them. This is not the same as saying that the Church covered them up, because they did so contrary to Canon Law to save their worthless hides.
