He's a diving ***** that every NHL fan outside of Pittsburgh hates. Most Canadians are NHL fans. You do the math.

    • I guess it's too much for Calgary homers to give credit where credit is due...

Kesler made a nice play, and redirected the puck over Luongo.

What should he have done? It wasn't a weak goal at all.

Why would you think Drake is a Calgary homer? It was a deflection, but it was an easy one to stop if he was in the right position. Even the CTV commentators have mentioned this several times, and also discussed how he was fighting the puck near the end of the game. ****, even Ryan Kesler commented about how they saw how Luongo was fighting the puck as the game went on...that was an example. It was a bad goal, Luongo should've been in better position. But as I said, aside from that he had a great game, so don't ****ing say I'm not giving credit where credit is due.

Speaking of homers, I'm still waiting for you to admit you were 100% wrong about Iginla.

The NBC commentators were saying the same thing, so even Americans noticed.

          • By the way, when Ben says it went "over" Luongo, it was about a foot off the ice. The puck went over his pads and to his right. He wasn't making himself "big" and stretching out to make a save, he was hunching forward opening up more of the net for a puck to go through. It was bad positioning.

It was a good tip but was far enough out and changed the direction little enough that it was NOT a 'did not have a chance on it" type goal.

It wasn't super weak and even calling it weak is a stretch. Deflections can be tough.

Overall I felt that Luongo had matched up reasonably well with Miller through 60 minuites. Miller had faced slightly the tougher chances and Luongo didn't steal the game but gave Canada an opportunity to win. . . and thats prettyy much all you can ask

Oh and Canada outplayed the US on a game-wide analysis by a discernable margin. IT was not a large margin but they were the better team today (although Canada dominated far less than it had done in a losing effort last Sunday)

                • This is the puck passing Luongo on that 1st goal. Kesler was far enough out, like Flubber said, that this should've been a save.

The problem was Luongo's position. Look at that. Can he make himself any smaller? His pads aren't stretched out to the side, they're mostly behind him. His head is hunched down.

He did get the W, and in a normal NHL game I'd let it slide, but that kind of stop should've been made in a big game like this by the best goaltender in the country.

NO as Canadians we feel a need to analyze the game in excruciating detail-- win or lose

                    • Basically an even game - even in shots, penalty minutes and (obviously) goals scored through 60 min (very clean game BTW!). I thought the Americans played much better than they did last week vs Canada. It's oversimplifying to say the goalie change was the difference, but that's when Canada went on their 4-game, do-or-die streak. And I'm all about easy analysis.

                        • The simple explanation is both teams needed time to gel. The game moves so fast and the players on both sides are so ridiculously skilled, the timing needs to be so precise for things to work. It takes a few games to get in sync.

The USA benefited in the early games from Miller's astounding play. The goalies don't really need to be in sync. Now both teams were both in sync, and the goalies themselves were less important. The guys infront were the deciding factor.

I still think Miller was the better goaltender tonight, even if the statistics show he wasn't. None of the goals he let in were really in any way his fault.
