It's traditional overtime. That's how it is in the NHL, too (except the playoffs, but in the playoffs they just do as many 5-5 OTs as needed...).

4-4 opens up the scoring as there's much more ice to use.

Tough loss, but I can't help but think the future of American international hockey looks pretty bright. We just finished second with the youngest team in the Olympics and won the World Juniors this year, so the next couple Olympics should be good.

Maybe hockey got a few more fans in America.

I'll definitely watch it again in Sochi, if the NHL allows its players to participate.

Aside from the first goal, Luongo had a great game. Some great stops there.

I think the US would've been better off going right to a shootout. I'd be happy to rely on Miller to best Luongo in a shootout, but I was dreading giving the Canadians that much ice in a 4 on 4 OT. It really didn't play to the American team's strengths.

In theory, it should've. The US has the faster team, they could take advantage of the open ice more.

I think what happened was the late goal pissed off Team Canada. They played possessed.

The Canadians are much better at passing and controlling the puck in the open ice, though. The extra space really let the Canadians' skill show.

Not much Luongo could do. Kes redirected the puck over Luongo.
