Both Asher and I said variations on the theme that there was little difference in the assessment of Broduer or Luongo, but that based on past history and more big-game experience, Broduer was the #1 going into the tournament and would play the first game that mattered and it would be his job to lose. We were proved correct. Broeduer played BOTH of the tougher games in the RR and based on his very mediocre play against the US, lost the job.

Flubber and I both clearly and repeatedly stated the starters job would fall to Brodeur, and it did. We also both stated he may very well lose the job to Luongo, but he would be the starter. Which he was. Luongo didn't even dress for the second game.

No, Canada should beat Germany regardless just as they should have beaten the Swiss and Norway. But in those games, the early goals are very important. Regardless of the opponent, when you get through a period at 0-0or at 1-0, the team starts to tighten up so those goals are key. So Iggy has gotten important goals in two games which they won and didn't in the two games that they lost or won in SO.
