Is the Catholic church a force for good in the world?
I have an ilk? Cool. I like women, and I like women who go to church. I just don't like women as priests.
WHY? What rational do you use to support that dislike with?
Are women not good enough? Are they not Holy enough?

I think the only problems with the Catholic Church is it's age and it's size. Most Catholics I know are good people. The outliers will give them a bad name, but these people are generally CEO Catholics and don't count in my book.
The problems associated with the size and age is that it makes it very inflexible in it's ability to adapt to it's congregation. The church I attend has contemporary services and is very far removed from a traditional Catholic or even Lutheran service, people are living Catholic churches for such services because they are more appealing and are able to speak at a human level. The bureaucracy in the Catholic church in unavoidable, no matter what is decided there will be a large segment that disagrees, and a small segment which disagrees vehemently.
The solution is not to fire all women public school teachers, Ben.
I don't know many men who attend public school. Is this the case in Calgary? Again, teaching authority over men has two qualifiers.
1. Teaching
2. men.
What this means is that, boys, and girls are much more likely to be taught by a woman in their classes. You have nuns as teachers all throughout school.
WRT to women serving in other ways other than teaching, look at EWTN. It's run by a nun, and I think its great. Women can and do have authority over men in church, just not teaching authority. They run all kinds of groups, and if you went, you'd understand this.
I personally think that carving a niche out for men is radical in this day and age. Women are doing just fine in church TYVM. It's the men who need encouragement and an example, and the priest does this very well.

From what I've seen in the Anglican church several things occur.
1. Most women don't really WANT to be in that position. Women priests turn off plenty of women who really don't want to listen to another one.
2. Women who did serve tended to do a variety of things. 1, they didn't like that whole bit about judging. Lots of touchy-feely I'm ok, you're ok. Denial of some pretty important teachings.
3. The congregations drifted away consistantly from Christianity, according to the fads and ways of the times. Do I believe female priests have failed the Anglican church? Yes, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

You clearly have major psychological problems with women.
I find your position that women should be fired from teaching jobs and prohibited from any kind of leadership role in the church to be just another example.
You are a terrific example of why the Catholic church is dying. Godspeed.

I love the excuses. Other people may not like a minority in power over them, therefore we can't let the minority have power... for their own good!! Sounds familiar...

They quote St. Paul who says that women shouldn't have teaching authority over men. There's a couple reasons for this. Men don't usually tend to listen to the woman in the first place, and secondly, how they choose to teach can cause problems. Denominations who have chosen to ordain women have pretty much left Christian teachings on morality for one reason over another, but they also see very few men attend.
Wow, Ben outing himself as a misogynist c*nt in addition to all the other bull**** he believes in...

If Ben didn't have the hearing disability, you can bet he'd be first to recommend marching invalids off to camps. That's just the kind of guy he is.

And we're going to steer the conversation away from personal attacks against BK and back toward the topic at hand. If you disagree with BK's stance, attack his reasons, not his character.

Not all men want to be in that position either but that doesn't mean none should be. The same for women. The second part of that is so sexist I refuse to comment on it.
2. Women who did serve tended to do a variety of things. 1, they didn't like that whole bit about judging. Lots of touchy-feely I'm ok, you're ok. Denial of some pretty important teachings.
What, you think all men priest do it perfectly or like it? Again more sexist garbage.
3. The congregations drifted away consistantly from Christianity, according to the fads and ways of the times. Do I believe female priests have failed the Anglican church? Yes, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.[/QUOTE]
Because you personally feel that they have failed you're against them ever being priests. What a load of crap.
Run up so more stereotypes to justify your sexist position.
