Which Ben crosses virtually every time he posts here and yet you do nothing about it...

Mobius: I never even said I wanted him dead.
As if I would have banned you for only 12 hours if I would have thought that you were serious. There's just a line, and you crossed it.

So you agree that putting the Christian Koreans versus the Buddhist Koreans is irrelevant to the question of the correlation between IQ and atheism?Originally posted by Heraclitus View PostActually a better argument is that many Buddhists belive in other gods or traditinal spirit ancestors.
If I said "All Christians have a low IQ", that example would add something to the conversation. Given that I merely expressed a *correlation* between religion and lack of use of the scientific method (which equals a mental handicap IMO) or low IQ if you like (it's true too), offering a case example where there would be a correlation between religion and high IQ does not disprove the validity of my statement.I don't recall claiming it would. It is however fair to point out counterexamples don't you agree?
Dude, that article says exactly what I was assuming: the correlation is between christianity and socio-economic status. No data is offered for a direct correlation between Korean Christians and IQ. The author speculates on the (most likely existing) correlation between Korean socio-economic status and IQ, but he offers nothing to prove a direct positive correlation between religion and IQ when compensating for socio-economic status (SES).Anyway here is the nearest source I can find on short notice.
And clearly the cause of the difference in IQ is SES, not genetics, so this finding has no relevance whatsoever to your eugenic theories.
I'd like to know that. Do you have any data on that? You are correct. But then again what if Christianity for example or religiosity is only associated with lower IQ because of poorer socio-economic status, poorer education in the Western world?
Given the IQ variation within groups is much higher than between groups, basing a eugenics policy on groups rather than individuals is inefficient, Giving so much attention to the IQ of groups is therefore retarded and/or racist. How charming.

Homophobia is no reason to be banned.Originally posted by MOBIUS View PostI'm sorry, are you being deliberately obtuse? I'm am talking about Ben's actual homophobia as opposed to my taking the piss out of him...
Do you honestly think I seriously want Ben dead? I never even said I wanted him dead. But virtually every day Ben is serious about his homophobia - and yet I'm the one who gets banned.
But I understand, because you actually agree with Ben because you're a homophobe too.
Although I wouldn't have banned you either.
But if we started banning trolls, probably both you and Ben would go.

Why is it that Ben gets protected when he is the online equivalent of Warren Jeffs?

You were pre-warned. And are Asher's DL.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostI thought the environment on the OT when I joined was actually not toxic at all for a forum. People make fun of each other but it's all in the name of fun. Unless Ben is talking. When I posted asking for CS help, everyone was very helpful (except for Drake but he was funny so it was cool).

The content is still stale, that's the problem.
And of course, the people that grew up and/or found other things to do IRL.

there are certainly fewer people now than a few years ago and it's a real shame. it would literally take hours to name them. we've lost a lot of quality posters, and i think more than a few have been driven away by the, at times, toxic atmosphere. there have been one or two new posters, kuci's little brother and gribbler spring to mind, and a couple of people have come back (speer and drose, for example) but it's only a drop in the ocean.
maybe civ 5 will reverse the trend and we'll get some good new posters and a few cool people coming back, but i'm not that optimistic.
