In your case thread, if you ban someone, you should name the culprit. Besides the additional deterrent, people won't wonder why a person has stopped arguing their point.

aeson you need "case closed" after each report on the other sticky thread. It would be a nice Ming touch.

Should also add a rule of threads that are created to attack a poster. This place used to be decent, or at least it seemed so when we had rules. This place is horrible.

wouldn't that be stricter that adding just the rules that I listed?Originally posted by N35t0r View PostOr just add 'being a decent human being' to the rules.

So you're saying we need rules against trolling, threadjacking, spamming and attacking the poster?Originally posted by Tuberski View PostThe [civil] tag is stupid. Every discussion should be civil, by default. Maybe, an [AnythingGoes] or whatever you want to call it, would be better.
ACK!
Come on people, give Aeson a break.

Or you could go work on your issues with a mental health professional.Originally posted by DaShi View PostThe sad truth is that all these rules are just to deal with Kid and Ben. Just ban them and get it over with.

No matter what you do, there will be people complaining.Originally posted by Aeson View PostIt's a good suggestion to have a public "case law". It's a lot of grey area right now ...
Though I worry about treating unmarked threads the same as [civil]. The idea is to try to have our cake and eat it too, with threads for those who want civil discussion, and threads for those who just want to let loose (within reason). If we do want to go that far, then there's no need for [civil] and instead we have the same rules for all threads.
If it ends up that most thread starters want [civil] then we could switch to using [flame] and have civil as the norm. At this point I would say we're at flame being the norm. Though I'm hopeful that will change.
This is the Poly OT.
May as well do nothing. Chill out and relax.
I hope that doesn't sound "defeatist".
May as well give up now rather than give up later. Saves time.
