Yeah, I forgot the frenzied activity threads.

      If a mod:

There aren't that many threads. I'd scan all or at least most of them. Obvious markers would be poster names in the title & obvious baiting of a poster in a title, and other ruling breaking in title (if copycat threads are no-nos, for instance...).

Me: interesting title, lots of posts, obvious baiting of a poster...

I just need to learn how to lurk in invisible mode so that people can't complain about me seeing a thread.

I would think it would be more important for people to SEE mods around. But maybe that's how I ruined Poly.

rah, he's saying that he doesn't want to close threads/ban people, and wants to be able to claim ignorance later on.

Let em. I've already heard it way too many times.

Maybe I should change "lord of the Ferrets" to "Poly Killer"

I'd read anything gay related first..there's bound to be trouble there. I would also read anything about sluts, badonkadonk and American Idol to see if one of my ex girlfriends is on apolyton.

My bar was always traffic. Every thread with more then two pages of posts.

When I had to mod, the majority of my job was clearing out porn spambots, and keeping up with the hot discussions. We had a few problem posters that I usually opened up their 'most recent posts', and followed them around that way.

I didn't have access to the cool tools that ming and rah had.

Lots of posts, inflammatory titles, certain posters -- yeah, that pretty much covers it.

The new feature that lets you peek at a thread's first line by hovering on its title may also be of use, to catch stealth trolls.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

If you want an easy answer why you and your bro ****ed the site, it was because of your behaviour regarding this login...

Basically you guys had your favourites whom you allowed to get away with the most outrageous behaviour whilst harshly clamping down on others, like Asher, who were frequently the butt of these excesses.

So, whilst you seem to be using this thread to justify that you couldn't possibly be in all places at all times, you also have to come clean about some of your deliberate failings as mods... Much as I dislike the manner in which they left, the Panda ****ers do have one or two justified arguments about modding on Poly.

Once you apologise for things like that, we can move on - not to mention praising you both for the thinks you actually did do right, and how we can all make this site better together.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?
